Marselle Cook
Nursing Staff Cordinator
2017 Margaret Award Recipient
Pioneers Memorial Hospital Foundation

Marselle Cooke was born in Pasadena, California and lived in Phoenix, Arizona before moving to El Centro, CA where she briefly worked at El Centro Regional Hospital.

Soon after moving to Brawley, she began her 23-year career at Pioneers Memorial Hospital, first as a Pre-Natal Scrub Tech and for the past 17 years as Staffing Coordinator. She is the mother of two children, Brittany and Mark and for many years was a foster mother caring for over ten children, some with physical disabilities.

Our recipient has been an active member of the Pioneers Memorial Foundation for the past 9 years.  Believe me, this lady gets things done. I’m not sure how we would have such successful golf tournaments without her tenacity and attention to detail.

From negotiating with the venue, tournament check-in, distributing event shirts and hats, arranging libations for the golfers while they’re on the course, organizing the raffle prizes, the volunteer job assignments, making sure the breakfast burritos and coffee are ready before the golfers go out, and ensuring the lunch is ready when they come back, she gets it done.

This young lady has helped and assisted coordinate the Pioneers Memorial Hospital Gala, order, confirm and execute the many activities that help make this event such a success.  She is the “Go To” person for anything and everything event related at the hospital and for the foundation.

In addition, she is a past president and current member of PAC, the Pioneers Activity Committee assisting in such events as the Chili Cook Off, The Employee Appreciation Breakfast and Taco Dinner events during Employee Appreciation Week and any other fun employee activities that help keep morale up at Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District.

She is a board member and avid supporter of the Imperial Valley Cancer Support Center, participating in every event, support group meetings and fundraisers, an organization that supports cancer patients in Imperial Valley.

Her sense of humor, outgoing personality, love of people and commitment to excellence are evidenced in the many activities she is involved in and to the people she has touched throughout her career.
